INEOS in Cologne operates a wastewater treatment plant located in the Chempark Dormagen. The plant is jointly used by the companies based at the site.
The operational data from the wastewater treatment plant must be shared with the companies located in the Chempark. A secure data exchange is a technical prerequisite, as operational technology (OT) data must be transferred from one company’s systems to those of another. As multiple companies are involved, secure cross-company data exchange is essential.
To enable secure data exchange, we established a bidirectional connection between the companies’ systems using AVEVA CONNECT. Many of the companies at Chempark Dormagen already use the AVEVA PI System. We connected these systems to AVEVA CONNECT in order to transfer operational data to the cloud. Within CONNECT, access to the relevant data is granted to the respective business partners.
The participating companies now have access to a single source of truth and can exchange relevant information at any time. This enables INEOS to offer greater transparency to its customers. For example, an INEOS customer can now report their requirements and monitor their usage costs more effectively.
Oliver Kucharczyk, OT Engineer at INEOS in Cologne:
"Thanks to MEGLA and their expertise in the area of CONNECT, the project was implemented very efficiently and to a high standard. We can now use CONNECT not only to offer our customers greater transparency, but also to benefit from it ourselves. All key data is now provided accurately and reliably by INEOS in Cologne, as well as its partners. This data is used, for example, for monitoring, billing, accounting, and also for fault management."
